The Appraisal Navigator will work with the Vista operating
system. However there are several
installation issues that need to be handled manually. Please refer to the following instructions to successfully
install the Appraisal Navigator on Vista.
- Vista
does not allow the Appraisal Navigator install program to automatically
update the registry. You will
receive a series of error messages during the installation.
- The
first error message will give you a Retry or Cancel option. Select Cancel. The installation will continue.
- The
next error messages are regarding registration entries and your only
option is OK. Click OK on all of
these messages until the installation continues.
- Installation
should then complete normally, accept all other defaults.
- Installation
will prompt that a reboot/restart is necessary. Select the option to reboot/restart. Wait for the system to restart.
- When
you have control, click Start | All Programs | Accessories and in there
will be Command Prompt.
Right-Click the Command Prompt item and you will get a popup menu. Click Run As Administrator and verify
that you do want that with Continue.
You should now be at a black DOS window.
- Type
CD \APPNAV and press the Enter key on your keyboard. Your prompt should now be C:\APPNAV
- Type
REGSVR32 TX4OLE11.OCX and press the Enter key. You should get a message that says Succeeded with on OK
button, click the OK.
- Type
REGSVR32 WSPELL.OCX and press the Enter key. Again, you should get the Succeeded message. Click OK.
- Either
type EXIT and press Enter or click the X in upper right corner to close
the DOS window.
You may still have to get your license file in place in the
C:\APPNAV folder depending on where you were in the original download and
install instructions. If you get a
message saying you need to run the Data Convert program, that means your
license file is not in place. Get back
on-line, go to www.appraisersguild.com,
select the Full Install link again, re-enter your appraiser name, and on the
download page use the link in Step 4 and save that into your C:\APPNAV folder,
replacing the existing file of the same name.
After these steps and properly saving your license file, your Appraisal
Navigator is ready to start. You may
still need a passcode from CAGA which you can get by calling 800-835-1955 with
your machine code.
